Friday 16th July - Dorking Running Day Update:
We are sorry to have to say that earlier this week we made the difficult decision to once again defer our Dorking event. We have been "sitting on the fence" for some time about this Running Day and feel that even with the lifting of Covid restrictions planned for next week, that the time is simply not right for this event to go ahead. A lot of people are still very nervous about the circumstances we find ourselves in and there is an element of uncertainty created by the latest government announcement around what restrictions may or may not be required on public transport or social distancing in general.
Weighed into this decision has been the fact that a couple of vehicle owners have expressed concern about potential passenger numbers and social distancing/face mask issues and have withdrawn from the event. Because of this and also due to the unexpected personal circumstances of one of our Committee Members, there is potential for a shortfall of approx. four/five buses on the day. We would thus rather wait and do the event justice rather than offer a day out that would be very fragmented and put undue pressure and stress on the remaining participants not to mention us as organisers.
Provisionally we are looking at Sunday 27th March 2022 as a replacement date which is virtually two years on from when we first planned to hold it. We appreciate that this news is disappointing, but we feel it is for the best in the short term. We are still planning to hold our Chesham event on Sunday 3rd October when, hopefully, a little bit more normality will have returned.
Programmes: To be advised.

We are very sorry, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, and the uncertainty this has caused, the Chesham running day on Sunday 4th October has been cancelled.
We are hopeful that we will return to run our bus events next year, 2021.
Stay safe, and we will see you again next year!

RUNNING DAY UPDATE:
Following on from previous updates, we are sorry to say that our Dorking event which we rescheduled for Sunday 2nd August will not be happening on that day, and the best we can offer is a deferment to 2021.
When this event does finally happen, the timetables will be as published in the event programme which we had printed earlier this year before the Covid virus put paid to this and many other events which were planned for 2020.
Under current circumstances "Social Distancing" is one of the big issues and until such time as guidelines are relaxed, events such as running days are virtually impossible to operate safely.
We now plan on sending Dorking programmes out to all those who have ordered them via Paypal, as they will still apply when the event eventually takes place.
If you would prefer a refund then please contact us on info@amershammotorbussociety.co.uk and we will process that accordingly.
Please let us know your preference by 1st July - programmes will be distributed shortly after then and refunds will be issued if so requested.
If you have ordered by cheque and you wish to cancel, again please let us know (by 1st July), otherwise we will forward your copy to you.
As far as our Chesham event is concerned - planned for Sunday 4th October, a lot depends on the guidelines which will be in force at the time. Social distancing again is the stumbling block and a decision will be made nearer the date as to whether this event will be able to go ahead. Please check in on this page (or on our Facebook page) for further updates as hopefully, the situation becomes clearer.
Many thanks to all for your support in the past - and here's to 2021.
Best wishes,
Steve and Michael,
Running Day Organisers.

This running day is to commemorate the centenary of the formation of the "Amersham & District Motorbus Company" in 1919.
Also High Wycombe bus garage, one of the two built by A&D, is closing again!
Since it's closure as a bus garage in 1977, the premises has been used as a retail outlet, and is now closing down.
The building's future is not known, but site is likely to be 're-developed'.
With this in mind, we are going recreate some of the LT bus routes in High Wycombe and surrounding area. Those who know the area well will know, it is well known for its hills! So big green routemasters will feature, and if possible we will try to stop outside the garage for photo opportunities.
